Winery Story

Platt Vineyard

Lewis and Joan Platt first planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at their isolated Freestone-Occidental property in 2003. Until recently, the vineyard’s highly sought-after fruit was all sold to wineries across Northern California, including Ramey and Littorai, resulting in a variety of expressions representing just small parts of the vineyard. Following its 2022 acquisition by AXA Millésimes, the full panoramic view of Platt Vineyard can now be tasted, starting with the impressive 2023 vintage releases.

Full Panoramic View

The view from Platt Vineyard overlooking the Bodega Headlands toward the Pacific Ocean is hard to beat. Cozying up next to Steve Kistler’s Occidental Vineyard, the entire property covers 245 acres, mostly woodland. Towering redwoods punctuate the rows of vines. It’s a place so remote that planting here 25 years ago would have seemed crazy....
