Andy Smith took some time putting down roots. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he studied winemaking at Lincoln University in New Zealand. He worked at Dry River in Martinborough before heading to Australia and eventually coming to California to work for top producers such as Littorai and Paul Hobbs. Today, he is a proprietor and winegrower at DuMOL, one of Sonoma’s leading producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Rooted

Andy Smith joined DuMOL in 1999. Located on the outskirts of Santa Rosa in Sonoma, DuMOL was founded only three years prior, in 1996. As a fledgling producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, they began by sourcing fruit from growers in the Russian River Valley. The unusual name comes from a combination of the names...
